The hands behind the form

Not factory-perfect. Human-perfect.

The rhythm of the hammer leaves small differences in every piece. That variation is the visible record of the person who shaped it.

Built for a long life

Good metal changes with you.

Peetal develops a quiet patina, can be polished again, and rewards the small rituals of regular care.

01

Responsive warmth

A broad base follows the flame closely for deliberate cooking.

02

Renewable lining

Traditional kalai can be refreshed by a skilled craftsperson.

03

Made to repair

Simple forms and honest joins invite maintenance, not disposal.

The second number

Twenty years changes the arithmetic.

₹4,850 is real money. The second number is the one people forget to work out, so here it is with the sums shown.

One Pratham Kadhai

Under ₹5

a meal

₹4,850, cooked on once a week for twenty years. That is 1,040 meals out of one vessel, and it can be re-tinned and carry on.

A pan replaced every two years

Ten times

over the same span

Whatever it costs, you pay it ten times across twenty years, and you throw away ten pans to get there.

From the workshop

Why the batches stay small.

Hammering is slow, and a person does it. A batch is finished when it is finished, so pieces sell out and come back rather than sitting in a warehouse waiting for a sale. The price is the same every day of the year. Nobody who bought last month paid too much.

Before you buy

The five questions we are asked most.

Will this work on my hob?

On gas and on any open flame, yes. Induction will not work, because brass is not magnetic and the plate has nothing to grip. If induction is your only hob, say so in the form below and we will tell you rather than sell you a vessel you cannot heat.

What is kalai, and when does it need doing again?

Kalai is a tin lining applied hot to the inside of a cooking vessel, so food meets tin instead of reactive brass. Grey and marked is normal and can carry on for years. When pale bare metal spreads across most of the base, plan a re-tin.

How heavy is it, actually?

The Pratham Kadhai is 1.9 kg empty and holds 2.5 litres. The Aangan Tawa is 1.6 kg across 28 cm. The six-piece Saaj set comes to 2.4 kg altogether. That weight is what holds heat steady, and it is also why some people choose the smaller piece.

How do I wash it?

Mild soap, warm water, towel dry straight away, and store it dry. Keep steel wool off the lining. Darkening where the flame meets the metal is patina, it is harmless, and it polishes off only if you want it off.

What does delivery cost, and what if I change my mind?

Shipping is ₹90, and free over ₹3,000. Orders are dispatched in 3 to 5 days, and every parcel carries a tracking link. Returns, refunds and the grievance contact are set out in the terms.

“Buy less. Cook more. Pass it forward.”
